RE: Who's in the RGV?

I will be there next month, meeting up with a part-timer. Is it crowded? Anyone know of a campground with wooded sites?

RE: Heater & voltage question.....cold here in PA!!!!

I checked and found that my cord is indeed a 12ga. Cranked the little heater up and got my rig a nice and toasty 64. Thanks to you guys I will be warm tonight. Another RV.net success story!

RE: Heater & voltage question.....cold here in PA!!!!

I drive the RV daily, won't that charge my batteries so hopefully my inverter won't kick in. The cord feels cold and connections are tight. My laptop is on a surge protector, plus has it's own battery so don't think that can be hurt. I don't even own a microwave or TV. I closed off the bathroom and bunk and it's up to 59 now....me and the dog under blankets with me wearing winter clothes and two pair of socks.

RE: Heater & voltage question.....cold here in PA!!!!

Yes, I figured that was what was causing it, but what I need to know is can any harm come? BTW I can't afford a different extension cord, this will only last a few days hopefully, sun is predicted and then I will be heading south after the election.

Heater & voltage question.....cold here in PA!!!!

I have a small electric space heater, it is usually quite enough when run on the low setting, but with the wind I can't get the living space any warmer than 56. Wowser!! When I put it on the high setting (I think all that does is increase the fan), my voltage drops to 108-109. Is that ok? Oh, I am using 100' of 14 guage extension cord. BUT besides a small light and my laptop, I don't use any other electric items.

RE: Roberts Mobile Home & RV REsort, St. Petersburg

I arrived in ST Pete in Feb about three years ago and was lucky to find a spot at Roberts. I liked it just fine! Yes, it is on the main thoroughfare between Tampa and St. Pete, but that made it easy to get around, traffic sucks everywhere down there!

Rio Grand Valley Newbie

I am looking for a place to spend Jan/Feb/Mar in the RGV area. Having never been there before, I am looking for recommendations. My needs are: monthly rate under $400, pet friendly, hopefully WiFi, and most important....not a place with row upon row of RV's, more of a campground experience as compared to a RV Park if you know what I mean. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

RE: WiFi ENABLED CAMPGROUNDS & REST AREAS UPDATED 06/10/08

Apple Island Resort in Milton VT has excellent free WiFi.
Also the first Vermont South bound Interstate 91 Rest Area as you enter the USA from Canada has free WiFi.

RE: Incoming WiFi signal booster

I just bought a RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB adapter from Netgear. I will let you know how it works out.

RE: Incoming WiFi signal booster

Bucky, your link is 2.5 years old, that is ancient information in the tech field.
Jim, your information was too sophisticated for me. Do these things plug into my laptop? What about software? Do I need an adapter AND an antenna? What does the antenna plug into to?

Incoming WiFi signal booster

Please don't tell me to do a search on here, as I already did it. But I am still confused. A lot of the results on "wifi booster" tell me about how to boost my signal going out and I want the best device that will amplify the incoming signals so I can find those free hot spots while traveling. And how do you attach such a thing to my laptop? What works for you? What should I be looking for? What problems to watch out for? Thanks!

Transmission Fluid overheating in '91 Toyota?

Someone told me that the transmission fluid overheats in these old Toyotas and that I should install a fan. Anyone know about this?

RE: Some advice on how to track location

Ok, you said "# Get a Google account
# Click on "My Maps"
# Click on "Create New Map"
# Enter an address and click on "Search Maps" button
# Top left corner is a "marker" icon
# Drag Icon onto map where you want it.
# Save map."
I got to the "enter address" part and was stymied. Where exactly to you enter an address? Thanks!

RE: Some advice on how to track location

Yes, my friends and family do indeed care about my whereabouts, especially since I travel solo. I tried the google maps, but could figure out how to put a pin in to mark the location. I will check into the Woodalls site, thanks rockhillmanor!

Some advice on how to track location

I would like to be able to let friends and family know where I am (beginning full timer) with some kind of widget that can be placed on my blog (a US map with a flag on it?). It doesn't have to be real time, I can manually update it with the coordinates from my GPS.
